People who eavesdrop!

I HATE people who eavesdrop.  Those people who listen into every conversation and phone call and then feel the need to comment or butt in.

There's a certain someone where I work, lets call him Ams, who does this all the time.    And I really mean ALL THE TIME.  I can even be in the next room talking to someone or having a conversation on the phone, and old big ears listens in and, get this, actually shouts his comments through to me.

Yesterday, I was talking near his desk, to a friend and he stopped his work and turned to us and just watched and listened to us.  Like we were some kind of television program!!

Ams has this other annoying habit of answering every question.  For example... "Lucy, have you fixed the E-mail server?" Before, I even have chance to open my mouth, he has answered for me.  He does this with everyone, ALL THE TIME!!!

Do you know what?  This could turn into a full fledged rant about Ams, but I think I'm going to save that for later...

Going Back To Work

As some of  you know, recently I've been pretty ill, hence the extended rantless period, which ended up with me going in for surgery.  So I've been off work for quite a while, which lets face it, ill or not is great!  I get to lie in bed all day watching films, playing my Xbox while people come and visit me bearing chocolate and sweets and Diet Coke!  My house mate even gave me a bell to ring should I require anything....  I have decided I quite like this despite the wrenching pain in my stomach whenever I breathe (or laugh, tip: don't watch comedy films while you have stitches)

Well, it was my first day back yesterday, and so many people said things like "Oooh I bet your glad to be back aren't you"  "I bet it must have been awful, you must have been so bored".  And I smile and nod and say yes, Im so glad to be back where I have to get up early, sit at a desk for 9 hours and have to make MYSELF coffee.  Its such a relief not have people coming around all the time with their gifts of confection.  I'm soooooo glad to back.

Well to be fair, I am glad the all pervading nausea, crippling migraines, constant pain and fatigue are gone so I suppose work is a fair trade off.... actually no... I'LL TAKE THE SWEETS AND DIET COKE!

In a moment of none sarcasm, massive thanks to all my friends and family who looked after me and came to visit  and called me, it was very very much appreciated. And to Pou... only 3 stroopwaffles left, I think I made them last quite well :P

#benihanakuw I bet you feel foolish now dont you!

Right, for those not in the know, there has been a social media networking storm of epic proportions today.  It all centres around a blogger called Mark who resides in Kuwait.  You can find his blog here
Now this guy, wrote about his experience in a restaurant franchise called Benihana, a worldwide franchise.  Basically saying service was nice and friendly but the food not great.  The owner of the branch he dined at has decided to sue him!  Not only that, it seems his court papers were written by a 3 year old having a tantrum.. you can find the English translation here.

The frenzy that followed has been unparalleled.  The online community has gathered together on facebook, twitter and other blogs to support Mark and his right to give his honest opinions.  The owner of the franchise in Kuwait, Mike Servo, in his infinite wisdom decided rather than to listen to a valid point from a customer and improve his restaurant, to take legal action.  This has amusingly caused, I would say about, and this is approximate, about 1 million times the amount of bad publicity then the original rather inoffensive review might have done.  I personally find this hilarious.

The unfortunate thing is this Mike Servo guy has the right to sue, as we as bloggers are not protected in the way that a writer for a newspaper or a magazine are.

I hope someone is writing all this down as it would make a really good manual on how to commit corporate suicide.

So, fellow bloggers, tweeters and facebookers, lets give Mark our virtual support and stand up to big business bullying!  You can support him by tweeting #benihanakuw.

Spread the word!!

People who needlessly hover

You know what Im talking about!  Those annoying people who just hover round for no reason.  They look like they are going to say something, or maybe do something useful, but no, they just hover there like idiots.

Say something, do something or GO AWAY!
